Sexy Beast by Georgia Le Carre

For years, Layla and BJ have hated each other. Passionately.

Or at least Layla has. How could she like somebody so cruel and animalistic? He fights and deals with drugs for a living, while she has grown up in a sheltered life with three brothers who are constantly looking out for her. But after one night, one simple act, everything changes and she begins to see past that.

On the other hand, BJ has always wanted Layla. She is the only one he has ever craved for and after that night, he is determined to get her.

I liked this book way more than I thought I would. Obviously, as a reader, you’re rooting for the two of them to get together – the misunderstood guy and the pampered perfect princess. But even then, you don’t expect the plot twist that occurs. The book is written from both points of views so you really get an idea of what each character is thinking and the justifications behind their actions. I’d say the majority of the book is written from Layla’s perspective so you learn more from her, but BJ’s chapter make just as much, if not more, of an impact.

You really get attached to the characters and don’t want to put the book down until you find out what happens, all the way at the end. It’s really hit after hit; not leaving a lot of time or room for any lulls in the story.

This was my first book from Georgia Le Carre, and I’ll definitely go back for more. Maybe not back-to-back reads like some other authors, but I wouldn’t hesitate to read another one of hers.
