The Deal (Off-Campus Book 1)
By Elle Kennedy
I cannot say how much I loved this book - amazing from the very
beginning!
Hannah Wells passed her
Philosophy midterm with an A, but that isn’t the real reason she enjoys her
class so much. The teacher sucks and the material is ridiculous, but the
school’s new football player Justin makes everything worth it.
Garrett Graham, on the other
hand, failed his exam. It wouldn’t be a big deal since he is acing his other
classes, but a bad grade in Philosophy will drop him below the GPA requirement
and knock him off of the hockey team. And this is his year – he is the team’s
captain as a junior, and he is set to make it to the pros. Being benched is not
an option.
So when Garrett finds out
that Hannah aced the exam, he needs
her to help tutor him. Unfortunately for him, that isn’t something Hannah wants
to do; she is too busy and doesn’t want to help another dumb jock that walks
around acting like he is God’s gift to women. But when Garrett finds out that
Hannah really wants to get Justin’s attention, he has the perfect plan: she
tutors him and he helps build the reputation that will get Justin to notice
her. And as much as Hannah hates to admit it, his plan makes perfect sense.
Like I said earlier, I LOVED
this book. Hannah merely tolerates Garrett at the beginning, but the process they
go through to gain each other’s trust and really becoming friends is what made this story worth reading. Each character has a
dark history, and letting each other in is just part of the process. Some of
the things they are willing to do for each other made my jaw drop.
Even though the story takes
place in just a few months, it doesn’t feel rushed at all. Sometimes it gets
annoying when two characters meet and then four days later they are in love and
that’s it. You don’t get that feeling from this novel. Instead, the timing is
just perfect.
I want everybody I know to
read this, and I am so happy to have discovered Elle Kennedy. I cannot wait to
read the other spin-off books in the Off-Campus series. Really though, I want to read everything she has ever written.
